You mean that light to remind the pasenger to fasten the seat belt? I often carry stuff on the passenger seat, and got tired of it flashing all the time. It's easy to disconnect, just pull off the trim peice and undo the connector. Pretty simple. I always remind people to buckle up, even in the back where the seatbelts are "ratcheting anacondas of death"

did you have something on your seat? The sensor is located in the middle of the seat centered on the fabric seam. Perhaps it got pushed around or something. but if it is still under waranty, bring it into your dealership hand have them check it out for you.

The fasten seatbelt light for the passenger seat requires very little weight to trigger it...I believe it is as little as 5 pounds...but I don't know for sure...

Yeah, mine goes off from my purse or even a bottle of water sometimes. I kind of like it though because it reminds me not to just throw stuff on the seat - less wear and tear, nothing to go flying about in the car while I'm driving, and it just looks neater. Plus it backs me up when I have to lay down the rules that no one is allowed to ride in my car without a seatbelt at any time under any circumstances.

nah, I don't usually have to FORCE people to do it. It's just sometimes people won't do it unless you tell them to. I doubt the laws are any different in different places. Click-it or ticket. It's more the mental image of your head going through the windshield that gets people to put it on, rather than the monetary fine.

For unknown reasons, I've always had trouble asking someone to put their seatbelt on if they don't do it themselves. Not sure why. But that light is handy. If they won't do, I simply tap my finger on the light. Don't have to say a word. They get the jist.

I've not had too many problems, most people understand it's my rule. You don't wear the belt, you don't ride. I don't want to pay the ticket or have someone's disability (or worse) hanging over my head if there were to be an accident.

A seatbelt saved my life. Had it not been for the belt, I would've been launched through the windshield and onto the opposite side of the highway. Because of it, I walked away with a cut on my knee and a pulled muscle on my back.Seatbelts are kinda my life's work now...I campaign for them...and I tell people you know what, it's not a fashion statement. It's a small thing that could make the difference between walking away, and getting killed. And there isn't an excuse anyone can give me that would make me agree that, in such a situation, not wearing one is ok.Unfortunately, that still doesn't seem to matter at times, so then I'm like "no belt, no ride."Anyway, back to the topic, I checked the manual, it actually doesn't specify a weight...but I know from personal experience, it's not much at all.

I'm happy everyone likes their safety features!!!I had nothing to do with them on the Vibe, but in general, it kind of validates my career choice....not to mention keeps everyone safe!

You know, the flashing seatbelt light actually worked... When I first got the Vibe, i went over to my friend's house to show him the car. I have NEVER saw him put on a seatbelt before... But, when I took him for a ride in the Vibe, it was dark, and that bright red, rapidly flashing light prompted him to put on the seatbelt!Back to the problem, I'm willing to bet the sensor in the seat is bad, perhaps it is reporting back that there is weight in the seat. Definitely have that checked out! Doesn't hurt anything, but I can imagine that would be an annoyance. If you don't want to unhook anything, just drive with your hand pushing on the release button - that'll shut it off.
