Did you have any luck with this. Doing this this weekend. Watched a few videos, seems like you need to take the carrier bearing bracket off the engine in the process.

Let me know if you did this.

Do you really think sparky12, with one post five years ago and has never posted since, is going to reply?

Thanks for the links but I have seen those. Neither are how my vibe is set up. The 2005 AWD the bearing is actually housed inside of the transfer case. Same ring and bolt retainers but not in a seperate bracket. I managed to have a dealer pull it for the whopping price tag of $1000. And after seeing how much rust there was there was no way with out a lift and a 15# sledge i was ever going to get that out. Heres a photo. You can see just how much bigger the bearing is toward the outside.

Here is the puller that I had to make to pull that shaft and bearing.... without it, I would have needed to pull the transfer case completely out.

Nice rigging there! I've had to make special jigs/harnesses/fixtures many times over the years to perform BIZARRE stunts similar to this to get me out of a jam. I'm fortunate to have milling machines, lathes, welders, unlimited steel , etc needed to perform this work. Great job and thanks for sharing it with us.

Now show us your Vibe ........ hint, hint
