Maybe it's just me, but I keep banging my knuckles on the shifter knob when I reach for the A/C controls in our 04 Vibe. Is there any way to shorten the shifter knob so that the whole knob and assembly?

Thanks :) But that's more for manual shifting, isn't it? I should've made clear--I have an automatic transmission.

Anyway, isn't that type of "short shifter" just reducing the distance between each shift point, rather than reducing the *height* of the shift lever itself?

I'm pretty sure that MWR shifter is both a shorter throw and shorter in height, but again, for manual transmission only. I don't know much about the AT's or if you could modify the mechanism in any way, but doesn't hurt to check out some aftermarket ideas : http://www.jegs.com/c/Shifters_Shifter- ... 7/10002/-1

Anyone know what parts are in a T handle shifter? Is the lock out knob just triggered by a cable? Might not be that difficult to cut the handle tube with a pipe cutter and then re-attach the top. Might have to shorten the cable and/or re-thread the top of the tube, but that should all be readily doable.

That shifter not only shortens the throw, it lowers the knob by about and inch or two. My boot is actually sunken into the surround due to the shifter being so much lower
