Hitch Mobility carriers and Vibes

Hi all and I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience with trailer hitch Mobility carriers.

I have a 2007 Vibe and I've been looking at getting a trailer hitch in order to get a carrier for my wifes electric scooter.

All the Hitches I have found have 1 1/4 inch receivers. And the Mobility Carriers have 2 inch receivers.

all the Hitches have a Tongue weight listing of 200 lbs. It seems all the Hitches have this tongue weight no matter how well built or who made it. Is this a set in stone official manufacturer number that cannot be changed?

the carriers weight around 80 lbs, my wifes scooter at about 100 lbs. which is about 180 lbs.

If I include a 1 1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter, does it affect the tongue weight? Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks
Delby

You are correct that only a class I hitch is available for your car. The 2009-2010 has a class II hitch available but you need a class III.

Using an adapter reduces capacity even further due to the longer lever action.

If you try this I guarantee you the hitch will bend. Its not just about the weight, it is also the bouncing back there.
