2009 Vibe won't shift into Park

I have a 2009 Vibe (1.8L engine) that I use for a rural delivery route. When I stopped to make a delivery at a store this morning, the vehicle would not shift into Park. The rest of the gears seem to be working fine, and all I did for the remainder of the morning was put it into nuetral, with the emergency brake on. Also, because of this, my key is locked into the ignition. Can anyone give me an idea on where to start looking in order to solve this problem? Very sorry for the late response. I was surprised that all this turned out to be was a "frozen" linkage. My mechanic just lubricated it heavily, and it shifted as normal. Thanks.

Thanks for the update! How many miles on the car and what area do you live/drive in? Was the problem caused by climate? Did you buy the car used? seems like a very unusual problem.
