So long Vibe...

... I was a bit sorry to see it go, but my 2010 GT is no longer with me. Wanted something bigger, smoother and quieter. I don't think 2nd gen Vibe interior was built to same quality standards as first. Lots of rattles - including steering column and passenger seat. More of the interior paint peeling from door panels. The ride was fun on smooth and windy roads, but totally absurd on rutted out streets of Milwaukee where I work. Roads have gotten much worse over the past couple of winters.
So here is the new "grown up car":

Nice new ride. Congrats and good for you. At least you're out of the "GM family
I'm not surprised at the problems with the 2010, it was built around the time of uncertainties with GM and the future of the plant and Pontiac as well. Some of the workers probably had an idea the plant was going to close anyway, (well at least Pontiac and the Vibe were going to be no more). and it probably reflected in their work, in other words, some really probably did not care.

Nice... Was looking at the same, before local 2005 Vibe became available. Needed the space of the hatch, I was always trying to place oversize items in my Taurus's trunk.
In many ways the Taurus is the middle class Lincoln, enough features to appreciate, but not so many they get in the way. What engine is in your new ride?

3.5L 288 horses
I think the small engines with turbos like Ecoboost and Ecotec are a bit of a gimmick. Who knows how well they will work in the long run. Same for CVT's.

Sorry to hear your 2nd gen Vibe GT is gone .... BUT happy that you purchased another domestic car

Just curious how you sold/traded your Vibe? What was the mileage when you unloaded it? If trade in, what did the dealer give you for it? If sold privately what did you end up getting? Good luck with your new ride

Traded it. Didn't want to go private sale route - just didn't feel like dealing with it. Had just a hair under 50k.

To each his own - dealing with selling my own used cars over the years rather than letting the dealer steal them from me is the most money per hour I have ever made and it is legally nontaxable. But it is easier if you own the car outright - no lien.

Sorry to see the Vibe go. Can't say I'm a fan of anything Ford. Never have been, never will be.

Some would say the same about GM.

Can't say I'm a GM fan anymore either since they killed off Pontiac.

FORD was going to be the only domestic maker I would consider. They make a very good product and they did not take the bailout or leave their investors with nothing.

I don't understand the patriotism for a car built in Mexico...

(removed), I'm not sure hoe I got that wrong! Lol. Good luck with it though. My friend (who was looking for a full-sized car) and I went to test drive a new Taurus last week....the battery was dead on a new 2013. I was surprised. My friend, who was iffy on getting a fed, was completely turned off...

Wow, they're really asking a lot for your old ride

They should get around 13k and be happy with it. Greedy dealers
When my son bought his 09 Gt with 35k miles , 27 months ago, they were asking 14,700 and they took 13,100. It will be interesting to see what they end up getting for it.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I know what you mean, though. It's funny how we can harbour feelings for inanimate objects!

Why? You said goodbye when you signed over the title. You have a new ride, enjoy it.

I think that's a fair asking price for the '10 Vibe. Most of the 2nd gens are right in that price range (between 13-15K) that I found on autotrader back when I was looking. And honestly the 1st gens are not all that much cheaper - considering they are a bare minimum of 5 years old now.
EDIT - I should say, the '07-'08 1st gens. Obviously you can pick up an '03 with 200K miles on it for a couple grand.

Sidenote, 2001 F150 with 436K on it... Ford Trucks are awesome, once I pay my Vibe in 30 months I will be buying a truck.

nice ride!! I sold my 02' F-150 due to the cost of gas, and purchased my 05' base Vibe with the proceeds.
I know it's a big argument about which brand is King, but for me it's Ford or Foreign (Toyota, Honda, Nissan).
I really dig those seats, all sorts of jealous now. LoL
