Stock HU volume knob fix

I have been having problems lately with my volume knob. When I turn the knob up or down it seemed to "skip"...meaning when I turn the volume knob the volume doesnt change. I remember my old home stereos I would hear static every once in a while when I turn the volume up or down. I would use electrical contact cleaner to clean out the volume knob & that would clear it up. I did the same with the Vibes volume knob & it cleared it up, it also feels very "notchy" like brand new. Be care full however cause this cleaner loves to eat plastic on contact ( even though the front of the can say its not harmfull to plastic ). I had to pull the radio trim away from the radio so the excess didnt fall on the panels. It did remove a bit of paint from the face of the radio, but thats ok...the Vibe is just about 11 years old. I was able to clean it up with some Megs natural shine. I never seen this problem posted before so I figure maybe someone in the future will come across the topic.

It is because the knobs are breaking from the heat. Mine totally broke about a month ago and I followed the other radio know link to fix it.

I found knobs for GM at Autozone and fixed. One knob is longer than other and I had to cut it down about an 1/8" to get it to seat properly.

Overall I think they look good and actually WORK!
