I also dropped this on Facebook, but didn't want to leave the forum out:
I chickened out on plasti dipping my hood as I had panned so instead I dipped the wheels. What do you guys think? Luckily if I don't like it I can just peel it off. I may consider peeling off the dip over the Pontiac centercaps. Thoughts?

Looks sweet. Looks like I may do this before the metallic plastidip.

Hmmmmm ....... I no longer have a Twin out there in the world

I think leaving a little bit of the silver along with the black would look better. Good thing it can all come off if you change your mind

Yeah, just experimenting. The stuff is pretty neat. I may keep it fora while the change back. We'll see.

Someone else did similar and left the "bolts" silver also and it looked pretty good. I probably would not do the same thing, unless my wheels were badly damaged, but it does look different than every other GT out there.

Yeah, I left the lugs alone because I thought the contrast would look nice. I'm happy so far. We'll see in a few days.

It looks pretty good! I'd like to see what the wheels would look like though if you left the center caps and "rivets" unpainted, kind of like MaSlade did with his OEM chrome clad 17" wheels.

Here's an update. After some advice here and on the facebook page, I went around today with a toothpick and pulled the dip off the center caps and the rivets.

IMO it looks amazing with the contrast of the center caps, rivets and lug nuts

! Kind of makes me want to do mine for the heck of it...

My advice is to not rush the process and if you can, take the wheels off and do it. It really was a pain masking off the lugs and placing bags around the brake parts. But since I live in a town home complex which frowns on extensive automotive work, they stayed on. It's fun to play around with but likely wont be permanent I think it looks pretty good for a $15 job.

Those look great I'm tempted to do this for a little craft project!

How long do you think it will last, assuming nothing untoward happens to them? Did you do any prep to the wheels before dripping?

It's been a few weeks now and no chipping or anything. I just washed the wheels down by hand before dipping. Make sure you dry it very well. This is important. If some moisture us left on the wheel, the dip will bubble up. If you have the GT wheels be sure to really dry that knotched out area in the chrome.

Which Plasti-Dip is that? The gloss or flat?

I have the same wheels. If I get some time I think I'll do it. Seems like there's nothing to lose besides a few hours

Every day I think I'm going to go out and peel it off, but haven't yet.

Man it looks awesome why would you peel it off?!
Now that I'm looking I just today noticed a recent model Benz and a high end Jeep rolling with full matte plasti on the highway. If it's good enough for them, I'll have to give it a try

I plasti dipped my winter wheels. I forgot to take before pics, but I'll get some stock pre and authentic post pics up since the wheels are common MB motor 5x. I'm going to tackle the stock wheels and paint the brake rotors with a ceramic red tomorrow. I'm enjoying working with my hands on my mini summer vacation since most of the time I'm working with my head for school!

Well folks, after a few weeks, I decided to pull the dip off. (Which really isn't that easy with these wheels. Lots of nooks and crannies).
While I was at it I gave the Vibe a wash and wax. Man it was hot outside and, with water breaks, it took about 3 hours to pull and in some parts scrub off the dip.
The shine is back!

The PlastiDip looked good, but I definitely prefer the stock look of the wheels. Nice to see the Vibe back to "normal"

. I will be washing both of ours this coming weekend since the weather's going to be nice.
