heres a dumb question. is the supercharger a totally different engine or is it just like a add on peice to the base engine? why is it gonna be so much?

It an add on that the dealership installs for you. It's just for the base Vibe.

Not sure of the specifics, but it will bolt on to your current engine. I think a SC works by forcing air/fuel into the cylinder.

And as I understand it, the supercharger is not for the AWD, even though the AWD has the same engine as the base.

The part number is correct for the supercharger. Not sure where you got the part# from. That number is not released into the system yet. It will not be on any website or in any catalog. The catalogs for this year have already been printed. It will be a bolt on application and I highly recommend that everyone has the dealer install it. You will get a better warranty. Not sure why it is not released yet. The prototype works fine and does what it promises. SPO's price is still N/A.

The part number is from a 2004 Accessory list.

The part # is listed on GMPartsDirect.com under the 2004 Vibe Accessories. No info or price yet.

I'll be damn the website has the correct part number. It is still vague at GM where the supercharger is coming from. Not sure if it comes from a GM or Toyota supplier.

It is listed as a 2004 accessory b/c it will be released during the 2004 model year. It will fit the 2003 vibe.

I'm really excited about the S/C for the Vibe, but here's a question for you all:There's been a lot of talk on this site about premature manual transmission problems, particularly with the GT - perhaps due to higher horsepower, revs, etc., when compared to the base Vibe. So, what affect is the increase in torque and horsepower from the supercharger going to have on the transmission that's on the base Vibe if the same tranny has a hard time handling the GT's power?Let me know what you think - cheers!

actually i believe the tranny problems where in the base automatic not the manual and the gt has a different tranny alltogether
