How many other 2009 Vibe owners received their GM Safety Recall #12071 Notice in the mail? This is the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS) recall that Toyota announced over half a year ago--and GM is just *now* getting around to implementating. Supposedly a 1-hour task.

I got the original recall letter back in December but never did get a follow-up letter, so I contacted my dealer earlier this week. They told me to come in and they would take care of it. I went in the next day. One hour and two minutes later (yeah, I keep track of this stuff) they notified me my Vibe was ready to go.

We received initial letters a few months ago. Yesterday we received letters saying a fix was now available. I'll have to call the dealer one of these days to set up appointments.

Got mine today. I think I am going to hold onto it until/unless the window switch starts acting up. The description of the issue on the Toyota side is more clear and says it's not a safety issue unless you try and lubricate the switch to "fix" it. So I won't do that.

Also got mine today

I may just take in the window switch cluster and have them do "whatever" when I open up my door to perform some mods. Don't know when that will be but at least these safety recalls can be done any time. They never expire! I still have to have a "parking brake wedge" which needs to be installed on my 1992 F-150. That recall was issued back in 1994

One of these days...

Nope, never got a letter. Being that they broke my 04 window switch housing when they did the window fix, glued it and never said a word...coming loose 3 yrs later...I have to think about letting them touch it.

My thoughts too. I plan to tell them
"...you break ANYTHING, GM replaces it..."

Took my car in this morning. Had the window switch board examined. The service writer comes back out and says that his mechanic did not have the correct grease to apply to the switch and that they have to order it. I get it now. Toyota put out this phony TSB/Recall just so GM has to buy their grease. Way to milk it for all its worth Toyota

Oh, and for more salt in the wound, my car's starter made the noise enroute to going to the dealer this morning. The grinding noise has now happened twice in the past 2 weeks, both on 60 degree mornings. It is just a matter of time before the thing wears out.
