Hello all!!

I am finally joining the ranks of the GenVibe community! Hooray!! I have been driving my vibe now for a year and a half after getting it for student teaching in college from my mom.

I drive a 2005 Base Orange Fusion that i call 'Pumpkin' She's been a great car :D

215K and going strong! originally i got the car with 196K thanks to mom driving 100+ highway miles to work everyday, but nothing is wrong with her! She made the long drive from Upstate NY to West Texas no problem.

I'm excited to be joining this great community of vibers!!

Questions up front:
since the mileage is so high, should i expect water pumps, belts etc to start going sometime soon? I know she is 8 years old, but living in the desert now i'm sure has to speed up the deterioration of those parts.

the auto tranny has never had a problem, and i changed the fluid when i got the car at 196K (that was the first time it was changed!!!) since nothing is wrong with it, and after the fluid change its still fine, how much longer can i expect for that tranny?

Thanks everybody!!
I attached a link to some photo's of my pumpkin below

Welcome to GenVibe :D I can't tell you what to expect as I don't have your model year and I certainly am nowhere near your mileage (only 16k on my 2009GT). I'm jealous of your awesome color and ALMOST paid a bit extra to get a 2010 Vibe GT, which they brought back that color & called it Ignition Orange.

Love that color on Vibes. Big move... upstate NY to Tx. With 215K miles this is definitely a good Vibe... especially all original. It should hold up nicely in the drier environment you've moved to. Eventually some parts will fail... could be now, could be at 350K. Hope that at least the shocks have been replaced by now!

Keep driving it. Keep the fluids changed. Check the spark plugs and wires to make sure they are in good shape. Watch the belts, and make sure the cooling system is good by checking the fluid and hoses. Old belts will dry out pretty fast... look for cracks in the rubber. It's gonna get hot down there!!

Update how your car does in its new home. Vibes are tough.
