2003 Vibe 5 Speed. Need to remove and try to rebuild Gearbox. Need a breakdown on how to remove box from car. Do I need to remove the entire unit or can I just remove the Gearbox???? Schematic would be nice and a little advice. I have the car on jack stands, removed almost all components from car. Yes going install new Clutch kit also.

Remove airbox, battery axles, you can get at all bolts/mounts
Pull tranny
Swap to 6 speed from xrs/GT....forget a rebuild

That link to the clutch replacement document ROCKS. Thanks!
I'm afraid I may doing what the OP indicated -- remove the transmission to repair it. My son's '04 is making very bad signs of the dreaded transmission bearing failure.
Has anyone every opened up a Vibe transmission? Does anyone know WHICH bearing it is? I've replaced a single bearing in a transmission twice before (a 86 Mazda pickup and a 94 Civic hatch), so the work is well within my ability. In the case of the Civic, I knew which bearing it was before I started the job (input shaft bearing), so I actually had the parts on hand when I started -- making it go much faster.
Also, at 120K miles, should we do the clutch? I did the clutch when I did the Civic at 185K -- but the original clutch was still in great shape and really didn't need it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Harry

if you care at all about performance, id get a new clutch and a lightweight flywheel.
for the headache of opening the transmission, you're still better off to find a c60 6speed and just swap it in
