If you are thinking of selling your Vibe.....

I'm looking for another. I even asked Mrs. Caretaker to write her nephew and see if he is contemplating getting rid of our old 2003 Vibe since he has a steady job and if he has any thoughts of "selling" the car, I'd like it back for our new driver. He has had our donated car for just about 2 years now. Call me an indian giver, but I want it back.

I'm putting this post out there just in case someone is contemplating selling their Vibe over the next 3-6 months or so. The Vibe has risen to the top of my list because the insurance is reasonable compared to a Fit, Versa hatchback, Elantra Touring and others. The Vibe also costs less compared to other used cars in the age range I am looking. I have a neighbor who has a nice Frosty sitting in their driveway and I'm going to go introduce myself and put the bug in their ear (no not like Khan did to Chekov).

Here's what I am looking for.

2005-2008: age is more important than miles. I really would rather not go back to the 03-04. Corollas are built for miles, but time is not kind to any car unless it is something Henry Ford built himself.
Must have: auto, ABS, side airbags
Would like: light color, a working radio (I'm assuming no one has had the same problem with the moons and tunes radio as we base radio owners have had with the diodes failing), and no clicking (malfunctioning) HVAC vents

So, if there is anyone out there who would like to see their Vibe go to the Caretaker of all Vibes, I'm all ears. I'm not in any rush, so don't quote today's used car prices. I'm very aware that the inflated pricing of the last 5 years is finally taking a down turn as the economy gets better and people buy new cars again. Don't worry if you don't live close to the Delta Quadrant (DC); I recently took a 4 hour train ride to buy a first gen Fit, only to discover some "no dice" problems with the car and simply took the long train ride home again. When will teleportation be available in my area???

If teleportation was available, you probably wouldn't be looking to buy a Vibe ;)

Not helpful to you Caretaker, but to anyone thinking about selling your Vibe (or matrix) ...

Take the time and make the effort to thoroughly clean under the rear seats. The rear seat bottom is in two parts, each is held down with two bolts. Pull those bolts and you can lift up the seat bottom half. You can't get to everything under that seat unless you do this .

This is important. I recently acquired a used Vibe, and found a previous owner's checkbook (with plenty of blank checks in it) under the rear seat bottom. I could have had a LOT of fun with that, but I did the right thing with it. Since you never know what might be under there and who might end up with your car once you sell it, take the time and be sure

We removed Junior's entire interior when he hooked up an electronic gizmo near the amp on the passenger side rear 1/4 panel , and when we removed the seat all we found was syrup from pop spills, suckers, skittles, & anything else gooey :x What a "sticky" mess. I would have much rather found a checkbook like you did

Oh my, now I really hope that my ex-rental has tame things hiding under there. I am kinda scared of what might be in there now...

selling my 05' frosty vibe 1zz auto soon since I got a matrix XRS to replace it. Its a base w/power package, body-colored flares/bumpers and keyless entry. Windows are tinted 35% but I've otherwise restored it to stock. The radio works fine along with everything else in the car. It runs remarkebly well & i've thought about giving it to my mom cuz I like it so much but I'd consider selling it to an enthusiast. I've done all the maintenance that needs doing on it & taken good care of it. Underneath looks clean as can be, no rust at all. It has high miles though....almost 215k. Looking to get around $4k out of it. I'm in Gambrills, MD 21054 if ur interested let me know.

Just wondering. How much would a 04 White MAN Pontiac Vibe with 80K miles sale for? New battery, etc. I'm thinking of selling it if I can't get the hang of a stick shift, thought I would love to keep it!

Well, your mileage is very low for a 2004, so on cars.com, it would stick out very well. I had to go to page two just to begin to find some cars in that mileage category. Although manual cars bring in significantly less money these days, it appears your car would be posted for somewhere between $6000 and $6500 assuming it has never been in an accident. I did see a few 2006 models with similar miles to yours in that price range that you would have to contend with, but I think the numbers I've quoted are pretty solid. Unless you are in a big city like the Delta Quadrant, I'd learn how to drive it and keep it. However, I do think that clutches are a pain in the leg when living in an urban area, and manuals seem to becoming a thing of the past which is why their values are lower on the used car market.

Thanks. There's a possibility that I may be going to school in the LA area, and I know that the 405 freeway is a PAIN. I'm going to try to learn.

Sorry if this is hijacking, but I am going to be selling my Vibe shortly and I'd rather it went to a caring Vibe fan than just a run-of-the-mill driver. We're special.

2003 black GT, under 114,000km, Magnaflow exhaust and Injen CAI, Kenwood stereo and 8" subwoofer. Zero accidents, paint in good condition but regular wear and tear rock chips and a few scuff marks here and there. Looking for top end book value due to the very low kms. Located in Alberta, Canada.

PM me if this tugs at your heart strings!
