I was cruising home from work today on 75 and I passed one of the new Cadillacs (the one built on the Vette platform) which had manufacturer's plates on it. Is this car out to the market yet???? I haven't seen them in the dealers yet.Anyways, it looked pretty nice. I try to carry my digital camera in the car for stuff like that, but I had taken it out last weekend, so I didn't have it to take a pic.

Are you talking about the XLR? I think the XLR was just released..EDIT: Per Cadillac, the XLR was to be released this summer.

quote:Are you talking about the XLR? That was it. There was alot of traffic heading north this afternoon, so I couldn't slow down to check it out too long, but it did look cool, and knowing there's a V8 under the hood and rear wheel drive made me smile.

Sweet ride, but with MSRP starting at $76,200 I would go with a Z06.

those XLR's are pretty sweeet. I worked on them for a bit with the duribility tests, it was fun. I got to crash a few of them too, strategically crash them that is.

I really like the XLR. I believe Cadillac has now turned the corner. This is my computer background:

The best Cadillac picture I have seen is a picture of the concept Sixteen. This is my background on my computer at work. Every time a tech person works on my computer, he or she makes a comment.

The XLR ($76,250) is pretty nice, but a little too expensive in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how many they sell and how competitive they are with the Lexus SC430 ($62,600) and the Mercedes-Benz SL500 ($86,710). Motor Trend's July 2003 issue compared the three cars.

Actually, the comparison among the three have been quite favorable to the XLR. Maybe not as refined as the Mercedes, but much better than prior Cadillacs, and top-notch electronics. They seemed to fault the Lexus as lacking personality in this segment.

for that type of money you can get a c5 and make it a 10 second street legal car...

The XLR is based on the new c6 platform, but is a different car for a different market. Not a sports car, like the c6, but instead a hardtop/convertible touring car.
