you may see this and think it's too long to bother reading, but you'd be wrong.

As an 05-08 Vi9be owner, you are all too familiar with the center console, which has a single piece lid that is too low and completely unfit for human usage. Your car is awesome, except for that console lid, and you yearn for the glory or the 03-04 console lid. You thought about buying one, but who in their right mind would pay the MSRP of $394.68 for one? Nobody I'd admit to knowing! So you have been living without one, longing for for a day like today. Because today you can get one and at an affordable price, and elevate your vibe to a new level of total awesomeness.

But let me digress for a moment. For those of you who haven't realized it yet, GenVibe officially opened to the public on April 1, 2002, which means that April 1, 2013 is genvibe's 11th birthday. If you've been around here a while you probably remember all my failed attempts to drum up some excitement for genvibe's birthdays over the years. But it IS a birthday, so someone needs to get a present.

What all this means is, I'm having a
First Annual Genvibe 11th birthday Charity Auction and Jamboree!

Up for auction is a two piece center console lid from a 2003 Vibe. This unique console lid is the answer to all your unfulfilled vibe aspirations. It was lovingly hand harvested by me from a 2003 Frosty exVibe at Brandywine auto parts, MD, on 3/29/2013. I was there getting another part, and because of the great price I got on the other part, to me it seems as if I got the console lid for free. In fact I got it for so much free that there is free left over to cover shipping. I mean, I'd pay for just the fun of walking around a junkyard, but to come away with a super sweet deal on precious vibe parts, it's like Christmas

"But wait," you ask, "you said charity auction." That's right. I am auctioning off this item of glory and all proceeds will go to a genviber or genvibers that I know is/are having a rough time. I won't name names, but I can absolutely guarantee that all monies resulting from this auction will go to a genviber who needs it, and I absolutely totally guarantee that this money will go to someone who is not me and who I have never met in real life.

"That's nuts," you say, and you're right. Why anyone would do such a thing is beyond credibility, and I am sure you are thinking this is some sort of April Fool's joke. The only joke is the lame deceptive thread title I used to get you to read this Maybe you think that I am actually some spammer trying to get you visit some eastern European porn site. You should be so lucky! Really, this is bona fide. Winner will get the items, someone other than me will get the money

Now, the amount of money I get for this item isn't going to make any difference to someone in hard times, so it's really more a symboilic gesture of support than any actual remedy. But we won't let that stop us! This is genvibe, after all.



Terms of sale:
1. The item will be sold to the highest bidder
2. To place a bid, reply to this topic with your bid, which must be higher than the previous highest bid. You can bid many times if you want

Was -> Bidding closes Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 11:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. Highest bidder at that time wins
Now -> Bidding will end Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 11:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time OR 24 hours after the last bid, whichever is later. What this means is that if you are waiting to snipe a bid in at the last minute like some cheapskate, when you bid, it will extend the autcino for another day to give others a chance to outbid you.
4. I haven't figured out yet whether I'll have the winning bidder send me the money for me to forward to the ultimate recipient, or I'll have the winner send the money to them directly. Also haven't figured out if payment will be by paypal or some other means.
5. Once payment is made, I will ship the item to the auction winner.
6. I don't want to set any minimum bid increment, but I will warn you, if you start bidding a penny more than the person before you, I will subject you to merciless ridicule.
7. Bid includes shipping. What you bid is what you pay if you win
8. The first person to bid must bid at least $15. The last two that were sold here went for $30 plus shipping

This deal is so sweet I might just bid against you even though I don't need it, and I can't think of anything that could possibly make it any better

Also included with the center console lid from heaven will be a center console power outlet and wiring harness. You can't begin to imagine the world of excitement that will open up to you when you install this power outlet into your 05-08 center console. And the installation is so easy too, no muss, no fuss. Did you know that the MSRP for the power outlet and power outlet cover is $50? Sure you could get some generic outlet from Walmart but it wouldn't include the cover. The cover is important. When nothing is plugged into the outlet, you can close the cover to keep small change from bouncing into the outlet, which is a good thing, because you don't want coins creating a short circuit, perhaps blasting a hole in your fuse. You know what else blasts with coins is the guns Mila Jovovitch uses in all the resident evil movies. Blasting coins can be a good thing, but unless you have some Resident Evil zombies loose in your vibe, you want to avoid that. AND that $50 MSRP doesn't include the wiring harness. But I do include it too and all for one money!!!! I'd pay the MSRP just to keep from having to go to Walmart. Now, with this outlet AND the console lid, you can completely enhance your center console to the level of glory few 05-08 Vibe owners dare to hope for.

B. The two items were harvested from a wrecked Vibe at a junkyard. they have been inspected by me and appear to be in good working order. I have given them an initial cleaning, you may desire to clean them some more. However, I am not liable for unforeseen circumstances. For example, if somehow the items have been seeded with mutant flying death spiders from Venus that will emerge one year from now and convert all the steel in your Vibe to petunias, well, don't come crying to me.

Wow, it's amazing to see the things that I ended up taking for granted to be in such high demand! I was pleasantly surprised to find that 2nd plug in the console case when I bought the car; I thought all of the Vibes afterwards would have one of those included in the vehicle!

Funny the way you worded this The 09-10 Vibes are just as bad. Too low for us short people to use and NO x-tra power point in the center console One would think they would learn from previous production runs .... but NOOOOOO We have to mod our own (on my long list of mods!)

I may put a bid in just to up the $$$ amount so that it can go towards helping out a fellow GenViber. I certainly have no use for this in either of our 09 Vibe Gt's.

you were a couple hours ahead of me, I was going to cancel the whole thing. I get impatient, and was frustrated at the lack of interest. I still might bid against you, because getting this stuff for $15 would be like getting a Krugerrand in change from a vending machine.

C'mon people, it's a steal. Even if you don't need or want the things, it would be an investment, you could earn a profit by getting these and reselling them. Cerulean routinely sells just the console lids here for $30 plus shipping. Guess I should bump one of those threads

Heck, feel free to bid it up. It's a great idea, and I seriously didn't think I was the only one interested. My daughter's '08 could use all the above, and I figured at the least, you might get a few more folks to jump in if bidding got started. If you do decide to pull - no problems from me.

Hmm... of course could get a 2nd 2005 Vibe to make use of this excellent deal. But, that would make my first Vibe jealous, and can't have that.

i could do 20 for this being my hinge is broke really dont need or want the power port thing so you could sell that to another pesron if wanted..

You could wait to see who wins this auction, and whoever that is will get it for such a steal that they should be willing to send you the hinge from their single piece console lid for an equally low price. But if you want to bid on this, you could take the hinge off, resell the lid to someone who has a single piece lid (that person could use the hinge off their old lid) , and sell the power outlet to Derf. So many possibilities. But your post was ambiguous, not sure if you were actually bidding or just contemplating bidding, so I'll assume contemplating

I take it that you bid $20. on Tuesday I had added an antisniping provision, and your bid extends teh auction for a day. you're original $20 bid qwas at 12:45 PM EDT, so that that keeps bidding open until 12:45 PM EDT on Monday 4/8

Sold, will take you up on your spare power port, will $20 work, for the cause? I think I will re-use the aftermarket power port to add 12v to the rear of the console, allowing the smart phone addict riding in the back enough juice to run their data plan into the stratosphere.

Really, if the power outlet AND the two piece console lid of glory that will make you irresistible to members of the desired gender and will elevate your car to a level of uber awesomeness completely unobtainable by those lame **** who saw this sweet deal and chose not to be bothered together only went for $25, I can't in good conscience take $20 for just the outlet. If you are willing, how about $15, to make my total proceeds an even $40? Look for a PM from me

Would have been nice to pull in more for them. If I do this again sometime, I'll give it a longer time. Ironic that the day after bidding ended someone posted in the For Sale/Wanted forum looking for a two piece console lid. ( unless that person was just trolling me ) I remember the way this place was some years ago, and I guess it's understandable that now that the Vibe is out of production, the activity level here has dropped off from what it used to be. Perhaps having an auction run for a month instead of a week might catch more of the people who are now only occasional visitors. I may also try to have more items to auction, if there is a next time.

it is nice of you to care enough about others to try and help raise money for them using your own time and resources,,as a retired/disabled body tech i have done tons of low cost paint jobs to help younger guys get into the car scene in hopes they would pay it forward some day,,hats off to you for being human,,Kevin
