Finally I have my radio back! I disconnected the cig lighter socket (it was shorted out), and now I have to find a NEW one and replace it. Two questions:
Where can I purchase a new cigarette lighter socket?
How do I get the old socket out of the plastic dash face-plate? Do I have to unscrew the center nut at the back of the socket and disassemble it before it comes out?
Sounds like the cig lighter sockets are a weak point on the Vibes, so i won't be trolling the JY for this one!

I would go to a Toyota dealer for the part... You could try to get a universal one from an auto parts store, which I've done before on an older car but wasn't satisfied with the fit.

Generally they're in two pieces that screw together -- the one I replaced had a collar that went through the panel and that screwed onto the lighter assembly on the other side of the panel. This video here of a Saturn shows a large nut on the back. I can't remember what the Vibe's lighter looked like, it it's a large nut like that then maybe try to take it off.

Bottom line, it probably screws together some way.

That is just what I wanted to know. The nut on the Vibe lighter is small, but I wanted to be sure that it was a two-piece setup.
