Cruise Control

Hi All,

I have a 2003 Vibe with 278,000 miles and still going strong. Obviously, i drive a lot of miles for work, and have developed an issue with the cruise control. The cruise tends to kick out after a period of time. It does not appear to be a consistant length of time. I can set the cruise with out issue with the switch. I have run a couple of tests, and it appears to kick out when the engine is under load, meaning climbing a hill or gradual grade or a head wind if driving on a flat stretch. When the cruise kicks out, the cruise light on the dash stays lit, and does not blink or flash. I can reset the cruise, but I have to turn it off first, and then turn it back on. Bumps do not appear to affect the issue, so I do not think it is a loose brake light switch. The only other part of the system I am aware of is the cruise servor. Do you have any other thoughts??

Thanks,

Terry

You should get your car scanned for codes. Based on your other post it looks like maybe you did and the was just 1, for running too lean.

The service manual lists the following possible sources for your symptoms:

Cruise control switch
Vehicle speed sensor intermittent
Brake switch
Park/neutral switch (automatic transmission)
