Cruise Control

Hi All,
I have a 2003 Vibe with 278,000 miles and still going strong. Obviously, i drive a lot of miles for work, and have developed an issue with the cruise control. The cruise tends to kick out after a period of time. It does not appear to be a consistant length of time. I can set the cruise with out issue with the switch. I have run a couple of tests, and it appears to kick out when the engine is under load, meaning climbing a hill or gradual grade or a head wind if driving on a flat stretch. When the cruise kicks out, the cruise light on the dash stays lit, and does not blink or flash. I can reset the cruise, but I have to turn it off first, and then turn it back on. Bumps do not appear to affect the issue, so I do not think it is a loose brake light switch. The only other part of the system I am aware of is the cruise servor. Do you have any other thoughts??
Thanks,
Terry
