I have a 2006 5-speed base vibe, it has manual window and door and of course, no cruise control

I followed instruction here :
viewtopic.php?t=15832" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

bought ACDELCO Part #D1919E online, installed it today ... and i have a few problems;

1. the horn stop working (i removed the wire with green wire of both ends from the steering wheel).

2. the cruse control is not working. When i push the cruise control button on the stalk, the "cruise" light on dash board turn on. But it does not engage the cruise control..

do you think it's a defective cruise control module ? But what am i to do with the horn problem ? I removed the CC stalk, reconnect the green wire , the horn is working again. There must be something i didnt do right ..

thanks for any info...

I have never looked into the steering column, so this is just a guess.

Step 8 of the instructions in the thread you referenced say to remove the green wire from the plug connection, which is supposedly a ground used to tell something else that the cruise control is not installed. Disconnecting it tells that something else it is installed.

The horn control in the steering wheel is a simple switch, when you press the horn, a connection sis closed. One side of the switch is connected to ground, the other to a wire that goes off to a horn relay. When the relay gets a ground from the horn switch, it turns on the horn.

Perhaps one of the two wires going to the horn switch are also green, and you disconnected the wrong green wire.

Step 8 is wrong, that is the ground for the horn relay. Move it to your new switch plug if it did not come with a green ground wire. I do not know why people keep putting out bad info, that is the horn relay ground, do not remove it, horn will not work without it. I installed the switch in my 2006 5 speed base and cruise works just fine, hit the brake or clutch and it disengages until you hit the recover or set a new speed just as it should.
