My favorite American motorsport is ALMS. Well, it was until I learned Grand Am is elminating the LMP1 class, the most advanced class on the grid. Audi's last race will be Sebring, and they will be racing their R18 E-Trons.

So does anyone else think eliminating the LMP1 class is a terrible idea? Or will eliminating it make the series better? I don't understand why Grand Am would eliminate a class that was advancing diesel and hybrid technology when most racing series are at least thinking about becoming more "green" now.

Seems to be the way things go in racing when series merge. They'll bring LMP1 back in some form or other. Especially if fans make some noise. Those cars have a pretty good following.
