GenVibe - Community for Pontiac Vibe Enthusiasts

Hey all, new to the forum.

I have tried looking up this particular topic before but it is weird and I highly doubt anyone else has experienced it on their Vibe. But I am taking the chance and asking it anyway.

So in the morning, I turn the key and there is a rough sound coming from the front. It started about two years after we got the car. My bf is an apprentice right now and was in school when it started and the instructor told him that it may be the serpentine belt. So a while went by before he was able to change it and finally he did, the noise has not stopped.

Things to note, it doesn't always do it when you start the car. Usually only if it has been sitting all night or all day. It's quite loud, I can hear it when inside the house. I want to get whatever it is fixed but I don't want to take it to GM, because if the sound can't be duplicated then they may not be able to fix it that day.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their Vibe or any other car? I have heard it once in a mall parking lot on someone else's car.

yep: go down about 20 topics in this Engine and Transmission section and you will see the Camshaft Timing Gear Actuator thread. You can read all about it there. I had my actuator replaced by GM for free, yet the noise has materialized twice since.
