Oil change system reset?

I came across this in the '09 Matrix manual. No mention of it in the Vibe manual. It has me wondering whether this is just a 'dummy' setting using your Trip A for oil change interval or if it actually means anything. Anyone know?
2009 Toyota Matrix Owner's Manual wrote:After changing the engine oil (U.S.A. only)
The oil change system should be reset. Perform the following procedures:
1. Turn the engine switch OFF with the trip meter A reading shown.
2. While pressing the trip meter reset button (→P. 119), turn the engine
switch to the “ON” position.
3. Continue to press and hold the button until the trip meter displays
000000.

I may have answered my own question... The Matrix has a 'MAINT REQD' warning light described as the 'Engine oil replacement reminder light'. I'm assuming GM didn't enable that in the Vibe since it's not mentioned in the manual.

YEP ... you're absolutely correct here! I was a little bummed when I found out that the Vibe's did NOT come with the oil life monitoring system like all other GM vehicles for that model year. Then when I realized that the drive-train portion of the car was all Toyota that somewhat made sense to me. Our G8Gt has that feature as well as my 2007 & 2012 Chevy Express work vans and I really like it. Guess they had to skimp on some features to keep the cars affordable :x

I think Toyota's was just a mileage counter anyway, not anything that analyzes your operating conditions like GM's... At least I read that somewhere on the interwebs, so it must be true.
