Anyone know what the little clip-like thing on the inside of the console top lid is for? My best guess is a pen holder but I'll be damned if I can find a pen with a small enough barrel to fit...

Welcome to GenVibe :D You are absolutely correct on the clip that you discovered and it works beautifully when you have the correct sized pen/pencil attached. Any of the common Bic "click" type ball point pens & even some of their mechanical pencils fit this clip nicely. Attached is a pic of mine holding a Bic pen. Give it a try. The barrels on these pens measures roughly 5/16" ;)

Thanks! That must make the thing next to it a business card holder.

I never paid attention to it but I'd say you are correct :) No mention of it at all in the owners manual either. I guess it will hold pretty much whatever will fit in the slot !

Speaking of storage... Where does everyone put their sunglasses (for those without the sunroof tray)? I have mine in the top center console tray but I'm not really happy with it since they flop around when you get into the bottom tray. Everywhere else seems just a little too small.

As I do with every car I drive, I tuck the arms of my sunglasses into the driver's side visor, only works with straight armed glasses.

When I had my aviators i used to fold them and slip an arm through the back of my cd holder on the visor. I like to keep them right there, always have.

I got excited and checked my center console for secret storage things...turns out the 1st gen Vibes don't have anything but bare plastic under the lid :(

Does your car still have the cup holder console inserts? I keep a pair in the rear most section of the opening along with a couple of other things (ear buds and a tape measure). It does not rattle around that I notice.

Yes, it still has both inserts. I tried there but they're prescription and I'm afraid of them getting scratched. I may have to break down and put them in a case/pouch.

Hmmm... I've noticed this "hook" before but have never tried to put anything on it. I will now be putting a pen there when I get a chance :P!
