I need to remove the rear seat cushion in my 2009 Vibe. Anyone know what the trick is to do that? It almost looks like the old way where you pushed the front of the rear seat cushion to the back and then lift up, but it's not happening. I could reef on it harder but hopefully someone can assure me that is the right way?

There are two clips that go into the underside front of the seat and possibly two at the back.... it's been a while since I had mine out. I don't recall how difficult it was to remove the clips but I didn't break any.

Thanks! Do you recall, are the clips attached to the car. amd thje seat sits down on top of them? or are the clips part of the seat and they push down into the car? The old cars, you used to push the front of the back seat towards the back to disengage the clips, and then you could lift up the from of the back seat.

I believe the back clips may (might, could possibly) be like this but the front ones only detach from the underside of the inside cushion material.

I don't need to remove the seat cover, I just need to get the seat up and out (long story)

...sounds like you're trying to gain access to the panel opening (under the rear seat) that lets you get to the gas tank & access to the in-tank electric fuel pump?!?

You can expose the plastic clips by gently pulling up the fabric from the bottom front of the seat. Run your fingers underneath the fabric and you will feel them. I did not pull the upholstery up from the clips for fear of breaking mine, so I can only offer moral support.

It's actually more embarrassing than that .... I pulled the drivers side plastic side panel in the rear out to complete the trailer wiring - I pulled it back far enough that the black plastic piece that is beside the rear seat came loose from the gray plastic panel . I had to remove the seat back on the drivers side, the rear seat cushion, the left side seat back hinge and part of the door gasket so I could get that small black panel loose.

As for the rear seat cushion, as mentioned by Caretaker there are two plastic clips located roughly centered on the left and right seating positions that the rear seat cushion snaps down into. I finally put the fingers of both hands under the front edge of the rear seat cushion on each side of where a clip was and yanked upward to snap it out of the plastic clip.

After removing all that then I could re-install the gray cladding, snap the black panel back into the gray panel, re-install the door seal ( which catches a clip on both the gray and the black panels, re-stall the plastic step piece in the bottom of the door frame, re-install the seat back, re-install the plastic seat back (and the screw covers), and I was finally back to where I would have been if I had been able to get my wiring done with out pulling the gray side panel out so far.

Oh, well, at least I didn't have to take the car in and pay somebody to get it all re-assembled, so I didn't have to listen to my wife ask me how much money I "saved" by doing the wiring myself.

That's exactly what I needed to see ... last week! Thanks for the photo tho, hopefully someone else will be able to find it if they need to figure out how to remove the rear seat in a 2009/2010 vibe.

The small black side panel that you can see in the lower left corner of the photo is what popped off of the gray side panel (see way down in the lower left corner). I had to get the seat out and that remove that seat back hinge you can see in the center of the small black panel so I could figure out what the clips were so I knew how to snap it back on.
