Coolant Confusion Elsewhere as well

Over the years we have had a lot of discussion/confusion as to what coolant was OEM in our Vibes. GM dealers say it is/was Dexcool - but it looked like a different color.
Saw this in Me & My Car - "QUESTION: Recently took my 2007 Jeep Compass to my local Ford Dealer for cooling system servicing. I was told that the cost of the coolant for my Jeep was higher than for a Ford product because of different coolant specifications by car manufacturers. ANSWER: As I understand it, Jeeps and other Chrysler vehicles have long used coolant that isn't compatible with some other types, particularly that used in General Motors cars. However, I think Ford vehicles switched to the same formulation, called HOAT (hybrid organic acid technology) years ago. So there shouldn't be a difference in cost." I have another year before I need to change the coolant in my '09 Vibe - I thought I would just go to a Toyota dealer. Is the Toyota Long Life Coolant a HOAT? Is a HOAT compatible with Dexcool?

When a ZZ, or ZR leaves the Powertrain Assembly Plant, whether it was destined for Vibe or Corolla production, it went through the Warm-up and Sensory benches with either Toyota LLC or later SLLC. I can not definitively say what happened when units reached NUMMI, but I doubt they mixed GM brand Dex-cool, with Toyota Coolant...unless they were 100% compatible. Hope this clarifies a bit of th confusion.
