Front Wipers don't work in cold weather - Relay location?

Good Morning.

I replaced the front wiper motor on my 2009 Vibe a couple years ago as it had seized / failed. Now I'm having a different issue. In the mornings when it's cold (-5C and below I'd say) the wipers won't work at all. But as soon as the sun warms the car up, or you leave it running / warm up for a long while they work fine.

When they are working the motor is strong as an ox and it's definitely not sticking / seizing. I think it's either the switch in the wiper control arm (interior) or the relay is shot.

I haven't been able to find any info on which relay is responsible for the front wipers. Does anyone have that info? Thanks.

I would say you have a bad/corroded connection somewhere. From what I recall, the relays are under the radio, behind the climate control knobs. There is, as I recall, a large fuse and possibly a relay in the fuse box under the hood.

I am having the same problem. They don't work on cold mornings but are fine after driving 45 minutes. Did you have any luck finding your problem?

I DID! The wiring harness connection to my wiper motor was failing and water had trickled into the motor itself.

It was freezing when cold (thus preventing it from turning) and thawing once it warmed up. They fixed the connection and applied dielectric grease (along with replacing the damn wiper motor). So it's working fine again now.

Maybe check that out?
