Does anyone know how I could acquire the basic wheel (with the hubcap) for the vibe? I need a differnt wheel, and tire for the winter months, I have the P205/50R17 tires, and they are not rated for the winter months. Any help with finding the cheapest set of 16" wheels is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

http://www.tirerack.com sells steelies with winter tire packages. if you want really cheap im sure you could find some in a junkyard.

Just bought 4 plain black steel rims for my Vibe. They are 16"x6" rims designed to take a 205 55 16 winter tire. Paid $300 Cnd, for 4 brand new[$75 each].Now I have to go out and find 4 tires!!! Ouch this is going to get expensive. Guess it's the price you pay to have the 17" Z rated tires. Living in Canada the Z tires are totally out for winter use and by changing the rims and tires at least I'll protect their appearance for a while longer.

I went to Wal Mart and bought 15 inch rims and dunlop Graspic tires worked great in the snow 195/65/15

Does anyone have 15" steel rims on a GT? Wil they fit due to the bigger rotors?

living in Alaska, we have 2 sets of tires, summer and winter. generally, i just change the tires over on the factory rims with some blizzaks or studded tires. this is the cheapest route to go. i have the factory 17" wheels, so i'm sure it's going to cost me a min of $500 for winter tires alone. it generally only costs about $50 for the change over. i want to get new wheels for the summer, so i'll prob end up keeping the winter wheels on the stock 17's and mounting the stock tires on my new rims for the summer. most sets will last you about 3-4 years this way.

You can pick up some nice alloy wheels on ebay. I just got some Borbet type E,s with 1/2 worn tires for $200. I'll be useing my factory alloys for winter. I now have a spare set of all seasons tires for winter and will put some sticky summer 225/50/16s on the 7 1/2" wide Borbets. I didn't want 17s. Factory alloy wheels with good tires sell for something over $300 on ebay. I think wrx wheels and tires also fit and the last three sets all sold for between $300 and $350 with 205/55/16 Bridgestone RE92s. Why get steel unless someone is giving them away.

You won't hurt them unless you hit something and they still look better, weigh less and don't cost more on ebay. The roads are normally clear in winter except when it's actually snowing.

Where I live the winter roads are not that bad, the biggest risk when it snows is people in SUVs who think they are invincible, and different wheels aren't going to help me with them. Guess it's a matter of what you can afford and how important the look of the wheels is to you. Would be nice to have a set for winter tires though.Hey SILVERVIBE, welcome to the site
