Will be purchasing mags very soon to upgrade my original 16" to 17" I was wondering if there would be any rubbing issue with the wider 225 dimension thanks in advance...

Inconvenience 17x8 wheels with a +48 offset, 25mm spacers in the rear and am lowered on tein h-tech's. No rubbing issues on 225-45-17

I actually put some 245/45/17s on my son's Vibe and he has no rubbing issues that we've noticed, and they've been on there for several months. Granted, the tires are technically too wide for the 17x7 wheels, but they were paid for and just wasting away on my Mustang so I decided to go for it. So 225s should fit great.

Imrunning 235 45 17 on my o4 and it's also lowered on tein s-tech springs.

No probs at all.

Ride is tight. Not 'cushy' like the stock springs and 16s. But not bad at all. And with just the springs alone (no sway bar) handles nicely. Like a slot car. Exit ramps are alot more fun:p

I am assuming you have the first generation Vibe? (Because you didn't say different with other first generation owners commenting).

I have a 2009 Vibe running on Tien H-Tech springs. No problems with stock 17" alloys and original 215/45-17 tires.

Then I went to 225/45-17 replacement tires (mostly because I wanted a bit more protection for the wheels from getting curbed). I get some kind of rubbing with the front driver's tire but it is only audible when I'm backing up and with the wheel turned in the middle range - you can't hear it when I am backing up straight and when turned all the way the sound stops. I was surprised to have anything interfere because the tires is only 10mm wider and only 4.5mm larger in overall diameter. This is just 1.45% larger overall according to the 1010.com tire size calculator.

I need to get the wheel off and see if there is any easy fix. If not, I can live with it.

Yup it's a 05 my vibe and I am really steering towards the s-tech springs and the 225's that's for sure I really can't wait for spring it will all come alive I will certainly post pics when the time comes

you're likely rubbing on the plastic fender lining...check to see if its scuffed from rubbing

^this. When i got into the accident over the summer, things were pushed back a little, and I did get rubbing on the highway. But once repaired, everything was fine

when i first lowered my vibe with the tein s-techs and the 18x7.5 MODWheel GFO2's, i had 225/40/18 and i rubbed on the plastic wheel wells just a bit but I just cut a whole where they were rubbing and problem solved. didn't rub anywhere else.

That's what I figured but am hoping it is something I can do without compromising the liner. My Civic is lowered and because of the wide wheels I had to cut the fender liner tops out and I get a lot of debris down in either side that I have to hose out all the time. Grrrr.

the rubbing problem fixes itself, eventually...

my vgt had a hole in the driverside liner when i bought it....the previous owner had smucked something on the road and it broke some of the plastic clips on the fender lining/under panels, so it rubbed a nice hole in the liner with 205-55-16's on oem wheels
