Loose glove box and seat back

Bought a 2007 Vibe today after a second test drive. I noticed that the damper on the glove box is broken or missing...is it also called a stopper? I was able to find a part online called a stopper but not a damper.

Also the passenger seat back is loose - when accelerating and stopping you are tossed forward or back about an inch. Is there a nut to tighten somewhere? Thanks!

Welcome to GenVibe .... another Ohioan :D I can't personally answer the glove box question as I have 2009 Vibes BUT the seat issue could be where it was unbolted by it's previous owner to remove something, and then it was not fully re-tightened. Also it could be in the reclining mechanism if it is ONLY the seat back moving. Your sunroof issue (other post you commented in) is likely plugged drain hoses. Do not duct tape it shut ... unless you never EVER plan on opening it up. O would not have bought my Vibe without a sunroof. They just amplify the driving experience when opened up or vented :P Finally, introduce yourself, describe your Vibe in detail, mileage, color, $$$, and post pics so we can all check it out. Again welcome from one Ohioan to another. ;)

Are you talking about the little arm that extends, and screws into the side of the box?
If so, that is the glove box stop, GM part 88970545.

I Agree on the seat bracket, check the bolts on the bottom 4 corners to make sure they're snug. The 2 in the rear are covered up w/ plastic.

For the glove box, it falls open rather than glides open nicely. Is that the stopper? If so thanks sideshowalan. Where can I order the part? At the time I didn't know what to look for so I don't know if the part is there and broken, or just gone (I haven't taken delivery yet).

As for the seat back, it's ONLY the back so it must be the reclining mechanism. How can I check that for a bolt or something?

I don't have a sunroof issue yet that I know of, but it was commented on like it's a common issue; is it? Are plugged drain hoses easy/expensive to fix?

This is the car I purchased http://www.spitzerlordstown.com/Vehicle ... 1832448383 I kind of wanted to wait to find a one owner, but I thought it drove nice and I took it to my mechanic and he only found minor things that the dealer fixed (serpentine belt, trans fluid flush, back wiper). It has some chips in the paint that the dealer is going to wed sand and fill in for me. Don't tell me I paid too much. I already feel like puking from the stress of buying my first car ever and it was a no-haggle dealership.

For the glovebox. Sit in the passenger seat, open the glovebox, on the right side of the opened glovebox there should be an arm that comes out of the opening and screws into the side of the box. It is either missing or may have been disconnected to take the glovebox out.

If it looks like it's missing, stick your hand in the dash around and see if it was disconnected and just retracted into the dash.

If the part is actually missing, just do a google shopping search for the part # and several sites will pop up.

So I have my Vibe and so far I love it :-) The little stopper arm is there, and it's connected to the box on the bottom but doesn't seem to be on top. Tomorrow when I replace the cabin air filter I'll get a better look. Thanks!
