Anyone seen this advanced design yet? Looks promising, but no listing yet for Vibe/Matrix. Do we need a write-in campaign?http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml? ... 4133SC0703

I think I will drop them a line, dmitri. I have seen equations for approximating an inlet tube to a 4 cylinder plenum, and for the base vibe they seem to suggest a tube about the stock diameter and only ~ 17" to 19" long*, which would be a "short ram HAI" unless I ran it through the hood! Maybe the double diameter of the AEM 2 compensates, allowing the longer pipe to reach cold air... *The article suggests using a "slide trombone"-like setup to adjust the length on the dyno to get it exactly right. When (if!) I ever get on a chassis dyno, it would be easy to do with the hood open, and if the length was short and critical, I'm sure I could come up with a way to bring cold air to the filter location.
