Please forgive me if this has already been covered elsewhere -I'm new to the forum.
I have a 2006 vibe with auto transmission. I drive 40 miles each way to work daily at highway speeds. Lately when I arrive at home and try to back into the driveway the vibe won't shift out of drive. I try shifting to reverse with no luck, then I try shifting to neutral, it stays in drive. If I take it down to low and shift to each gear it will eventually shift out of drive and allow me to shift into reverse. No problems of this kind when the car is cold or has not been driven a long distance.
I have about 150,000 miles on the car and, except for this problem, the vibe has needed very few repairs. I had the service center drain and change the transmission fluid about 25,000 miles ago, when the problem first started happening. Seemed to fix the shifting problem until this week, now I'm having the same problem again.
Does anyone have an idea about what's causing this and what would be the best way to fix it?
Thanks!
Jerry
