weirdest rattling sound

for the past few weeks as im driving with the window down i can hear what sounds like a screw driver dragging and bouncing /skipping off the ground. ive pulled over so many times now to look under and see nothing hang or loose . its been so annoying and its loud. any ideas ? 03 awd

Check the heat shield.

especially the fuel tank heat shield.

Yup, heat shield! There are several that run the length of the exhaust. Somewhere it's touching the tailpipe.
