I did 520 miles on a tank on the highway before having to go back to the gas station. We were 3 adults in the car along with our luggage and a cooler full of drinks. (The car wasn't light at all)
I Set the trip to after filling the tank to the cap
*It's a canadian car so you have to convert from km to miles

520 miles?!?! That's like 38+ mpg. That's really good. The most I've gotten on my son's car is about 475 miles, and on that fillup I put in over 13 gallons. That was driving on flat I-10 between Houston and San Antonio, keeping around 65. The most I've gotten on my 10 GT is only about 380 miles. The larger engine does make a difference.

Hmmmm .... Maybe the change in currency affected his numbers and "slightly inflated" the values

I too have the larger 2.4l engine with a manual tranny. Best for me was just this summer driving to/from the GenVibe Erie Pa. meet. 411 miles and took 11.6 gals to fill. Very happy with those numbers

Best I've done with my 2003 AWD was around 600km (372miles) highway, doing anywhere from 65-85mph and hitting heavy traffic. I can't remember the exact number because the yellow light was on and I couldn't find a station, panic! I normally fill up at halfway, keeps me Zen.

The best thing to do in winter is to keep the tank full all the time in order to prevent moisture in the tank.
It happened to me a couple of years ago, had to put a product in the tank to kinda get rid of the water in the bottom of the fuel tank.

I can hit almost 370miles to a tank in mixed driving. Averaging 35-38 mpg, again, mixed driving. I could do better, but, I keep up with traffic and try to merge safely. I try to plan trips to be the most fuel efficient as well.
Nothing like looking at the scan gauge in town and seeing 50+ mpg as you cruise the side streets.

Just finished a ~200 mile trip taking my daughter to her freshman camp. My Torque app read 29.4 on the way up there, ave 65mph and AC on 100%. On the way back, averaging 60 MPH with AC useage at ~20% it read 31.1 average MPG. There were some hills, so on a flat road I bet I could do 32 or so. First time I've driven the car on the highway by myself that I was not in a big hurry. If I calculate an average of 30 mpg when I fill it back up later today, I'll be happy.

I sometime wonder about the pros and cons of keeping the tank full. I used to do that until I started tracking my fuel consumption and it's more precise if you do it in a controlled manner. For example, filing up when the light lit and try to use always the same pump at your local gas bar so it releases always at the same point..
As for the cons of running a low tank is maybe water condensation.. especially in winter.

And since it happened to my father couple of years ago, I'm keeping it full all the time during the winter.

I only do 240-250 but mine is almost all city driving. Haven't done one long highway drive since buying the car.

My best was 827kms a few years ago. Last month I had an 801kms tank. The only problem I've had with pushing the tank that far is that you need the gas station to be in just the right place!
Summer or Winter, I run the tank down until the gas light comes on. I usually fill up once a week.

I generally run the car 300 miles between fillups. This leaves me somewhere above 1/4 tank. This last fillup, I ran 368.9 miles, which is the most I have ever run between fillups. The low fuel light was not on yet, but it was just barely above 1/8 tank which I think is where the lite activates.
I wished the car had a larger tank as I'm used to going 400 miles between fillups, which most of my previous vehicles would do easily and still not be below 1/4 tank when doing it.
Gauge on my '91 Ranger is broke, standard for a Ranger, but I run it 400 miles and usually have (calculated) 5 gals or so left in the tank.

The most I've gotten on one tank is 366.5 miles on 10.789 gallons with 99.5% highway driving (33.9 mpg - my highest all time MPG!).
The most my mom has gotten on one tank is 344.3 miles on 12.090 gallons with 50% city/50% highway driving (28.4 mpg).
We typically try to fill up when the gauge reaches 1/4 of a tank, especially during the winter months.
