Today at work was pretty good. Got home, realized that some water was spraying out of the hot water knob in the kitchen sink. I was washing dishes with hot water that my BF brought from the bathtub and needed a little more water. Without thinking, I turned the knob and WHOOSH the knob exploded off and its little socket turned into a geyser. I shoved it back on to reduce the amount of water jetting out while my BF turned off the water. The best part is that the caulk around the sink was already gone (the gap between the sink and counter is too big to seal), and the particle board in the counter and in the bottom of the cabinet was already destroyed when we moved in...so we can't dry up anything that got under the sink.

That was quite enough excitement on a Friday, thanks.

My day has sucked. Of course, studying is never fun. My face has been planted in my Cost Accounting and Intermediate Accounting II book. Never take an accounting course when you have only 4 weeks to learn 9 chapters.

Any accountants here?!

Camping over the weekend was great!!!

Singlehandedly tearing out carpet to repair house for rental. Finding mold and larvae...good times!

Hunched over on a stool for 4.5 hours straight while inspecting 15,000 8 oz glass jars before they get filled with organic raw honey .

I did this last Friday (July 27th) and again yesterday (July 31st). I love my job .

Today... ran some errands... then more bike time!

Another day at the hobby store. I mostly stocked stuff. But I learn more every day. Really hope I get to keep this job on the weekends once school begins, or all this learning will have been a waste. Who knew hobby-grade remote control cars were so intricate and complicated? Oh well.. Friday I may stop by a local track. But Saturday, if this seller gets back to me, I may buy some good snow tires with rims for the impending snow. Anybody want my OEM alloys?

Dad showed me how to fix the geyserknob, and I did the other one. Yesterday a dog pulled the catheter out of her front leg and got blood EVERYWHERE. I had to crawl into the kennel to wipe it all up and the smell made me tense and a bit woozy. We then gave a dog a bath and he gave me lots of kisses while I was wiping the water off of his front legs. After work, I visited with the boarding cats and dogs to help make them feel less lonely.

I love my job.

I thought the molasses-jar-toaster-lazy Susan incident we had to clean up was crazy, but larva? That totally sounds fun and not terrifying at all.

Well, the larvae was definetely a lot more fun and a lot less fight-or-flight defensive than the gray with orange legs centipede I unearthed and bashed with a brick in the yard some days earlier.

It is!

The other day I had to clean up some puke or diarrhea...no one is really sure which it was, It smelled awful. I don't have any words to describe it.

Otherwise, the rest of this week has been nice and average. Lots of dog kisses while I'm trying to fix their blankets or fill their water bowls. Bulldogs still leave their kennels stinky and really dirty. Also interesting: pitbulls have been the least-aggressive breed I've worked with so far besides pomeranians.

Took most of the day off and now I'm up at the lake enjoying some COOL weather next to a bonfire with some adult beverages in hand The shores of Lake Erie are looking REAL good now A MUST needed break in this weather and I'm enjoying every minute of it!

Sliced my toe open on a toolbox and had my cat wanting to play with my toe while I looked for neosporin. Yeah!

Update: Positively identifed what said larvae was while removing another section of house: cryptotermes brevis. Galleries full of younguns. No more buffet-they got the gas chamber treatment yesterday.
