somehow or another, my daughter's 2004 RH exterior door handle has snapped and I've ordered a replacement. But, I'm looking for information as to how to replace the handle as it seems others have had to do it also.
Hoping someone has the tips and tricks and wouldn't mind sharing.
Thanks

On the door (the piece that faces the B pillar when closed) there is a little black plastic circle looking thing. Take it off. After that use an allen wrench to loosen up the allen screw a little farther into the door which holds the key cylinder in place. Once you have the allen screw out, you will be able to pull the cylinder with its black cap(the keyhole piece). Then, proceed to put the new door handle on by putting both prongs in to their respective holes, now slide it forward and it should lock into place. After that, put the cylinder with it's cap back into it's hole make sure the rod of the cylinder with the gears on the end mesh properly with the gears inside the door. Replace the allen screw and put the little black cap on. And you're done!

I don't have to take the door panel off at all?

AH HA, your instructions were pretty spot on. Except for the following, on the 2004, the lock set screw was a torq head, and it doesn't come out all the way. there is a little plastic retention clamp or end that fits over the washer of the screw, so that it doesn't need to be completely removed. on this one, I just had to loosen it out all the way. Then, I didn't quite catch the part of "sliding it in the respective holes, and then sliding to the front, until it snaps or locks in". Once I got that, the handle had the spring to return it closed. got it all put back together, and waa laa, works like new

. if I have to do that again, I can do it in 2 minutes or less.
Thank you so much. it saved me a boat load of extra work...

I just did this yesterday, also the front passenger side handle of an 04. I found this video helpful, though as someone said, you probably wouldnt even have to remove the door panel.

I need to make a similar repair but I am confused. Looking on-line I keep finding "driver side door handle with keyhole" but can't find a passenger side one with keyhole. Any suggestions where to find one?
