All happened on one trip: serpentine belt broke (155k) miles

Front crank seal leaked......first one failed at 114k this one at 155k

LAST: front wheel bearing, passenger side. This developed over a couple of months, the ROAR grew unbearable. I originally thought it was PEP BOYS TIRE ROAR but was wrong. Sounded like the drivers side, but turned out to be the pass. Shop charged $440 total, said the book calls for 4 hrs labor. They didnt align it, not sure IF that is necessary. They also had to cut the bearing off, not sure if there is a better way. He said it was a ROYAL PAIN to fix this!

If anyone has a suggestion for stopping the crank seal from leaking or how to stop my somewhat minor oil consumption, please chime in!!!!!

I hope this is it for a while, still adding OIL at about a quart every 2000 miles. Delivering around 34 MPG in the road.

Crank seal: Make sure it's oiled well and the crankshaft is polished to a mirror finish
Wheel bearing: Heat the sucker up with a torch then get a bigger hammer
Oil burning: Quart every 2000 miles isn't that bad. When it gets to using a quart per tank, then it's time to tear it apart.

A quart every 2K is nothing in comparison. My Mustang did worse than that since it was new. The last couple of years it got down to every 500 miles or so.

Thanks for the comments. I hoped maybe these experiences could benefit some other owners?

Anyone else had the front wheel bearing failure??????? Sure hope the other side doesnt decide to go south too!

I can live with the oil consumption but dont like it! I may be more than a qt per 2k miles, but not too much more.
Anyone done something OTHER THAN replacing the PCV?????- like try to clear out the hoses/lines?

Thanks, George

I had an old civic that could use a couple of quarts a tank, before I finally parted ways with her.

Started slow, like an 8th or so of a quart between oil changes.

I will say this try to keep the level up even if you have to fill more often. I remember the first time I realized it had burnt up a quart between oil changes, and how It progressively got worse till I monitored it constantly.

Now it was an older car "86", but I had no problems till the water pump disintegrated and I ran it hot driving to mechanic. A tow would have been such a better decision, or taking my time getting there, oh well hindsight.
