I've been searching on here and online the past few days and haven't heard anything definitive but is there any modification required other than the normal stereo install to put a double din stereo in an 03 base? I've heard some say its fine and others that you have to remove some of the surround. Just want to make sure before I buy one..

All I had to do was use the standard installation kit (for a double-din unit)
It came with me head unit when I bought ot from SonicElectonix.com

Looking into a Kenwood dpx308u http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertain ... er/DPX308U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Fits in my price range and looks really good but still subtle.. probably the only 18 year old male not into big distracting flashy touch screen stereos lol I got better things to blow my money on.

I notice the back-lighting can change colors so you can match stock
Front usb and aux
and iPod control by hand

All very smart choices

Have you looked for that unit on Crutchfield and SonicElectronix?
They may have better prices if you're buying online +free installation gear

went with the flashy screen to watch movies and play video games in the car

Nothing like playing super nintendo at a car show :P

Got everything in today and got it all installed within an hour lol cheapest I could get it as sonic electronix was out of stock was crutchfield for like 200 so i bought everything separately from amazon for 170 ish. Everything went smoothly but had to crack out the Dremel and cut off the top piece of the dash kit as it bumped the defog and hazard switch. All looks good tho! :)

Hey looks good! Good Job! I had a single din head unit forever and finally bought a touch screen double din Pioneer AVH-P3300BT last year. Put in a parking brake bypass relay so my passengers could watch Workaholics DVDs while driving. I wouldn't recommend doing that to anyone with ADHD, cause you'll end up watching it instead of the road!

Meh, never been a fan of big flashy stereos, sometimes less is better but its all personal preference.

I was just having a little fun. Lol

It's actually a bit of a hassle to use when you're moving. Especially on a bumpy road. Lol
