Goodyear Eagle GT versus Eagle F1 A/S-C

Hi all,

It's time to replace the tires on my 2009 Vibe GT. Right now, Goodyear is running a promotion of an $80 rebate on the Eagle F1 A/S-C and $40 rebate on the Eagle GT. However, I can get the Eagle GT tire for about the same price as the F1 A/S-C (before rebate) from Discount Tire. The Eagle GT comes with a 50,000 mile limited warranty which the F1 does not. I'm trying to decide - would it be better long-term to get the GTs from Discount and forego the $80? Or are the F1s good enough? The F1s have worked out pretty well for me and I've put almost 70,000 miles on them (original owner). I put about 25,000 miles a year on my Vibe so I want to make sure I get the best possible tire for the best price.

IMHO the stock F1 A/S-C's are terrible. They did last me 50K in not-so easy driving, but they are loud and i was quite unimpressed with traction both dry and especially wet. When I was looking for replacement skins the F1's were not on the list.

I have no info on the Eagle GT's, but what I like best about them so far is that they are not F1 A/S-C's.

That's my $0.02

I've had 2 different sets of GT's on the Vibe. They do excellent in wet weather. We don't get any snow and I haven't driven in snow with them yet. I'm afraid that any tire you put on the Vibe will be "loud". My grandpa likes GoodYear anyway; he buys the tires. They're also on my grandmothers Cadillac CTS and of course don't have near the road noise or harsh ride.

IMO, ditch the Goodyears and get some Hankooks, V4 or V12. My V4's have lasted about 50000kms, and I don't drive them nicely. These tires simply don't hydroplane!!!

Mind you, I didn't buy these tires for longevity....
