Hi everyone,

I'm having problems with my 2zz-ge since one year and I began to be exhaust of that engine. Since I have the car, I washed the little metal mesh filter that filter the oil getting in the LIFT module because the lift wasnt working. It seemed to resolve the problem for a short period. Then, sometimes the lift was working and sometimes not working. Finally, I desided to change the solenoid (valve) thing. I thought that was maybe the proble. So, one day I changed it, went on the road to try it and everything was working. Last week, surprised! The lift was skipping. He hesitate to kick in and was finally kick in. Well now, the lift doesnt work. The engine make a cut off at 6 500 rpm (well at the lift point). So I need your help because now, I dont know what I can do more to fix that eternal problem. I will give it some thought, and when I have more time will look for links to more info. Off the top of my head, I start to think of either a timing problem, ecu problem, oil pump or pressure problem, and maybe oil viscosity problem. The 2zz-ge had problems with a couple different bolts shearing off. I think one problem was with the oil pump. There is also a lift bolt problem with them shearing too. Not sure of specific lift control problems that would affect all lift, except something to do with oil pressure, which is also controlled by the ecu. Might be a protection mode that disables if something is wrong. Any codes?
Was it the oil control valve that you replaced, which is located on the rear side of the cylinder head? Maybe the connections are bad or it was faulty.

There might be a specific service manual online at scripts or even on this site.
