Yellow headlights?

My friends have been playing with translucent tint film, and it got me toying with the idea... Here's a photoshop mock-up to see what it'd look like, it's removable so I could always remove the film if I didn't like it or got tired of it, but I don't want to waste too much of my time either. The idea is, I could do this and throw in some 4300K HID's so it'd look pretty yellow while still being very bright.

I realize this is very love-it-or-hate-it, and I'm pretty much on the fence. Your input is appreciated.

Sorry, but I am one of the few people that just doesn't understand the yellow-film-on-lights bit. I see so many people putting it on their fogs and I just can't comprehend why. I know, "to each their own," but I need someone to legitimately tell me why this even caught on. For me, there is nothing better than consistent (same temp) and pure white light emanating from every bulb/beam possible. ::shrug::

Your input is appreciated. For me, it would mostly be to stand out and look different, since a projector retrofit is out of my budget. Your argument does make sense though, and I have to admit I do like consistent white light. I'd have probably just done my fogs and left it at that, but those are broken / covered so as to not lose shards of glass while driving. Way I see it, it's $6 for a roll of film and I can take it off whever I realize it was a dumb idea :P

Putting HIDS for the low beams, without projectors, is dangerous and illegal.

Is having the headlights yellow not illegal also? I know headlamps are not suppose to be a different color and I figure yellow would fall under that. I don't like the look at all. I don't even like yellow fogs.

I think you're right on both things being illegal. Thanks for the advice, I'll stick with my pure white bulbs. :)

I am not a fan of yellow film on lights either. I can say though, I love my newly acquired Nokya yellow bulbs in my fog lights! The yellow light is not at all distracting like I thought it would be and it does shine nicely on the sides of the road at night. I think the yellow bulbs look good, but I definitely wouldn't want yellow film on my fog lights. It would be way too noticeable for my liking. Heck, I'm not a huge fan of the reflection of the yellow bulbs in the fog lights, but it's not nearly as noticeable as yellow film would be.

And for anyone that's not aware, yellow light is supposed to be best for seeing in bad weather conditions i.e. rain, fog, snow, sleet, etc. I haven't been able to test this out yet as the weather hasn't cooperated, but this is the reason I decided to give the Nokya yellow bulbs a chance in the fog lights. We'll see how they do in crappy weather one of these days.
