Hit 118,000 Miles this week ('06 Vibe)

Hit 118,000 miles on my '06 Vibe this week. I'll hit 120,000 before my 6 year anniversary in July, 2006.

This is by far my favorite car that I've driven to this kind of mileage. Ride is very comfortable, it's required the fewest repairs and the mpg is fantastic. I'm sure with regular routine maintenance this car can last much, much longer. I'm actually looking to keep it just another couple of years though. I think I deserve a new car every 8-10 years, unlike my wife who likes a new car every 4 years  I'll see what happens when 2014 rolls around.

Boy can I relate to that  But I think her latest ride, the 2009 G8 GT she'll hold onto for quite awhile. With only 13k miles and it doesn't see salt or much winter driving, it should be around for 8-10 years. My Vibe Gt on the other hand, will DEFINITELY be around for a minimum of 20 years. Congrats on the milestone and hope you end up keeping it even longer ;)

Congrats!! Have you had to do any unusual maintenance?

Congratulations! 118,000 miles is barely broken in for a Vibe! It's got plenty of years and miles left ;).

In July 2008 the car died while driving. PCM and Throttle Body needed to be replaced. Other than that it's been just routine maintenance. There was a period of time when the tire sensor would stay on constantly, but that was due to uneven tire wear (my fault - I don't need no stinkin' tire rotation  ). New set of tires fixed that.

Something that started recently is a noise coming from the power steering when cold. I'll have it checked out in the next week or two during my next oil change.

On my third set of tires, third set of front brakes and third battery (due for a fourth soon - batteries don't last too long in this FL heat). Replaced headlamp bulbs just a week ago because one bulb blew out. I could also use a fender liner & engine splash sheild.

One thing I can say is that the AC has been working great. I use it 80% of the time and it's still going strong.

I might need a windsheild replacement soon due to all the pitting (no cracking yet though). Drove behind several full dumptrucks at 70+ mph. Dirt and rocks were blowing off the top and pelting every car on the road behind them. It felt like the car was getting hit with a semi automatic BB gun. The hood could use a little touchup paint from that also.

Otherwise the car has been running well. I'm very happy with it. I was originally thinking that around 5 years 100K miles it would be time to let it go, but nope. I think this car can last much, much longer.

Hey, where's the Vibe High Mileage Club? Maybe we can give Volvo some competition

You know, the way my Vibe has been holding up I wouldn't doubt we'll start to see 20 year old models starting in 2023 (2003 was the first year for the Vibe, right?). I don't think I could hold on to it for that long though.

I don't believe there's a dedicated thread per say, but many owners have made threads about turning over 200,000, 300,000, 400,000 even 500,000+ miles!
