GenVibe - Community for Pontiac Vibe Enthusiasts

Okay, well it is time to replace the banner at the top of the page, and I figure what better choice than to give our users the opportunity to contribute.

* banner must be at least 770 pixels wide and no more than 980 pixels wide. it must be at least 120 pixels tall and no more than 198 pixels tall.
* must include "genvibe.com". doesn't need to be impact font.
* must include a photo of at least one vibe automobile, but more is okay.
* must not include any company logos (pontiac, the pontiac emblem, general motors, etc.) or use names in a way that might confuse the visitor into thinking this is an officially sponsored site
* must be submitted in png format, but PSD as well is highly desirable
* must be a static image (no animation)
* must be original work. may be derived from free-to-use images or images from the genvibe.com photo gallery (http://www.genvibe.com/gallery3 )
* maximum three submissions per individual forum account
* submissions must be received by 5/31/2012.
* should not include any artist information. the winner will get a link at the bottom of the forums (i.e. "header design by bob ross" at the bottom of the page near where it currently says "Design by Marc") linked to a page of your choosing, as long as that page is suitable. your link stays there for as long as the header stays up.
* becomes the property of genvibe.com to be used without limitation or compensation upon submission. genvibe.com reserves the right to modify and/or redistribute the image.
* winner gets two genvibe.com t-shirts out of the stock i have available. mailing to north america only.

To submit, you are welcome to post here, but official submissions must be mailed to me at mike@genvibe.com along with your forum username. By submitting your image, you certify that it is original work and contains only content for which either a) you have a license, b) comes from this site's photo gallery, c) is in the public domain, or d) is legally free to use, and that you are authorized to give it to genvibe.com for unlimited reuse as described above.

Once the deadline has passed, I'll put the submissions up for vote.

updated the OP to indicate that you can use stock photos as well as photos from the GVC photo gallery

At least one of the banners I submit will by my own car, but would anyone else with a good photo like me to use theirs?

@A Psycho Martyr: Um, I never took any art classes or anything so my advice is probably awful, but I think that the lettering would look better and be more legible if the gradients were not as drastic. I hope you don't mind that suggestion or anything. It might also help the lettering stand out if the colors used had a greater contrast vs. the background. That's just my opinion, though...

I actually have no FORMAL education in any kind of design at all either. Bout to start the summer semester tho

I'll try to mess with a few more and keep that in mind.

If I'm ever home I'll give this a go for sure. But between work, errands, and volunteering I'm all over the place. Here, there, gotta get to the Vibe quickly so I won't be late, etc... BUT this is easy enough. Cool effects and all that aren't quite my domain, but this does really seem like a fun thing.

haha oh yeah i forgot about that flintstone font. i can't remember what it was called; mlevine made that. the "generation vibe" is in a font called Toxica.

i created this topic and then made it a "Global" topic, so it appears in every forum. but why it shows canada when you actually view the topic contents - i have no idea. but it's making me want some poutine.

Unfortunately I don't have the know-how and/or tools to enter this contest myself, but I just wanted to suggest that all 3 generations of Vibe be represented in the new banner to make it "fair" .

Good point Carrie. Whatever gets chosen, I say gets posted up until the Erie summer meet. At that point, with 20 - 30 Vibes or more, the photo opportunities will be unlimited and very likely a good group of Vibes could be the background (watermark) for a better shot. Just my thoughts ............

Requirement says to have at least one vibe, pretty sure 4 is still really great. And it's a photo from one of the meet galleries that was provided. Figure if it's good enough for a meet why not this, ya know?

I actualy like it, but the pontiac emblems aren't allowed.

I'm actually kind curious about the Konig logo on my hood, does that meet requirements?

The point of not showing the Pontiac logo is so that there is no risk (I can't imagine this happening anyway, but we live in strange times) of Pontiac saying to me "You are confusing the public into thinking this is an official General Motors sponsored website", which it of course is not. And of course they say such things with Cease and Desist letters, which I received once for another site and would rather not get another one. You can show the logo on the car, you just shouldn't have a big Pontaic logo as a graphical element on the banner.

i also realized that as i wrote the rules, you couldn't write "community for Pontiac Vibe enthusiasts", which is in fact okay, so i will clear that up

Well I also agree with you Tim. This IS a Vibe site.
If any other car is to be at the top of the site, I'd at LEAST want it to be our twin, the Matrix

but at least the Vibes are up front

It's all good. It was a photo I got from the the meet gallery. LOL so I figured, fair game.

thanks, yea my dumb self read all the rules except that one and I saved it in such a manner that deleting it was not easy LOL

It does so any logos, I'm not sure if that was only GM and related or ANY logos, I'd be interested in knowing as well.

Mike, I laughed so freaking hard when I saw the Care Bears banner! I called my mom in to see it and she laughed her a** off! I think we have a clear winner !

yes, anything with Star Trek in it is my vote.

But I was thinking: genvibe.com is about the great members on this board over the years, not the car. This is not the only place to get information about the Vibe or Matrix. What makes this site is the people. My vote, if I am not too late, is to suggest a photo from one of the big meets, showing lots of Vibes and lots of members in one shot.

so far I prefer the "genvibe.com" you have, can you explore using that on some of the big Vibe meet gallery images?
