Oil Pan Drain Plug Gasket: Which one would you use?

I had recently purchased Toyota oil filters from Keithvibe, which included the drain plug gaskets (Toyota 90430-12028). They seem to be made of some type of soft composite material, and is apparently the older style gasket, as pictured:

However, my 2004 Vibe appears to have come with the newer type gasket (Toyota 90430-12031), which I have reused and never replaced. It appears to be a Teflon-coated metal washer, as pictured:

My question is, which washer should I use? The 90430-12028 composite gasket seems to have a history of being destroyed and leaking if overtightened. There is not much info on the 90430-12031 metal gasket failing or otherwise.

Thats funny, I never knew there was a gasket for the oil or trannmission drain plug. Mine must have fell apart long before I aquired the car LOL. Never had any leaks from either one though.

the composite gasket can only be used once.the aluminum gasket you can reuse, but will need to be replaced every so often. it will flatten out more every time its torqued.these cars come factory installed w the aluminum gasket.
