AF doesn't get much traffic, but this guy recently posted on there. He said:quote:THE VIBE GT IS NOT A SPORTS CAR! THE GTO IS A SPORTS CAR, A CORVETTE IS A SPORTS CAR, THE VIBE IS NOT, I DONT CARE IF THEY PUT GT, SE LT, ITS A LOUD 4 CYLINDER ENGINE LIKE THE REST OF THEM, YOU PROBALY GO 35 MPH AND IT SOUND LIKE YOUR GOING 85 THATS WHY IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS CHOCKING, THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THAT PROBLEM IS GO TO A V6 OR V8 OTHERWISE DONT COMPLAIN! I HAVE A 2003 SILVERADO V6 AND SOUNDS GREAT, AND I ALSO HAVE THE VIBE GT 03, 4 BANGER NICE CAR, EVEN I KNOW ITS NOT A SPORTS PERFORMANCE CAR.HAVE A GOOD DAYCan be found here:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbullet ... 1074901And again in this thread:quote:IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR VIBE OUT OF THE SHOP AND KEEP IT RUNNING GOOD FOR A LONG TIME DRIVE IT NORMAL...USE THAT 180 HORSES FOR EMERGENCIES OR ON A SPECIAL OCCASION AT A STOP LIGHT WITH A FORD FIESTA Source:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t91179.htmlIs he right, or should we all login and put him in his place?

Is the Vibe a "Sports Car"? No.Is the Vibe a "Sporty" car? Yes.Is the guy right or wrong? Only half at best. The Miata is a sports car. The Honda S200 is a sports car. Both have high HP 4-cylinders. The Pontiac Solstic will be a sports car and it will have a 4-cylinder. So his claim that a sports car needs a V6 or V8 are totally wrong.

Interesting. What defines a "Sports car"? What defines a "Sporty car"?IS a WRX and EVO a sports car? What about the WRX Wagon? IS that a sports car too?Is a sports car defined by its engine or its aerodynamic shape? Is a sports car, still a sports car if it has 4-doors?

In the true sense of the term, a sports car is a light, 2-door, 2-seat performance car. Corvette, Miata, Solstice, S2000, Z2, Z4, Boxter, 350Z. Anything more than that is either a sports sedan, a muscle car or a GT (Grand Tourer). Cars like the WRX, EVO, Vibe are more sport sedans like the Altima and the Maxima.A "sporty" car is any car that provides some of the performance of a sports car. Quick steering, stiff suspension, etc.Just my opinion.

That guys a dork. I saw where he said the Miata isn't a sports car. If my memory serves me right a couple years back Car and Driver picked the Miata as one of the only "true" sports cars left. And as far as what I consider my Vibe. I consider it a sprts wagon More like the wagon from hell.

quote:How about a new Thunder Chicken? The T-bird isn't a performance car, it's a 2-seat luxury car. It's overweight, under powered with a soft suspension. In my opinion it's more of a Grand Tourer.

muscle car...GTO started the muscle car craze back in 64 and it will help vault the current HP war in Detroit farther ahead. so i see no reason why it wouldnt be still considered a muscle car.yogi

I have a hard time judging cars based on their shape and number of doors. How about categorizing by performance? The Neon SRT-4 can do 0-60 in under 6 seconds. The WRX is near that number as well. - yet according to the before mentioned criteria, neither should be considered a "sports car". Because they have 4-doors, they gotta be called "Sport Sedans"?Somehow , that doesn't seem right?
