Could not handle the snow tires & steelies any longer. Its been so warm I felt like all i was doing was destroying my snow tires. So after just ten weeks of running them I am back too summer. I was just wondering if any one else had same opinion/idea. PLUS.... A question I heard that when storing tires you should reduce pressure to 20-25 pounds aprox.. What are your opinions and reasons for what you think on this?

We still have a fair bit of snow up here, but as they use salt here, I usually wait until it rains a few times and I'm sure there's no more salt on the roads before the chromies come out. Hoping it happens sooner, rather than later!As for the storage pressure, that's the first I hear of it, but Transport Canada says:"Tires should be stored upright in a clean indoor location, free from exposure to sunlight or strong artificial light, heat, ozone (electrical motors) and hydrocarbons. I switched back to my summer rims on Saturday. It will snow again here, but whatever falls won't last the day. When I took my summers off last year the pressure in them was 43psi. I don't reduce the pressure in them. Their lifespan is too short for cracking to ensue as they're not michelins. It was -3C this morning, tested the pressure before I left... 43psi!

yup. i am going to be putting the chromies and new rubber souls back on this weekend. i cant wait. HOLY HELL STAR !!! Why on earth are your tires set to 43psi? GM Spec is only 32psi. Look on your drivers door frames for proper tire inflation information.

Same here I think I only put 300 miles on my winter steelies as the wife currently isn't working so it got driven very little. Sounds like a weekend project to "summerize" the Vibe

The Hankooks have a max of 50psi. 32psi makes the car feel like slush, 45psi and up seem to have less grip. I'm sure that the 16" RS-A's do fine at 32 but a soft ride and crap hanling is not what I'm interested in.I took the door frames recommendation into consideration, but what I'm looking for can't be achieved with a squishy ride!

It's been in the 70s all this week so I am going to be washing the Vibes this weekend. I have been considering putting the 18s back on, but I'm thinking I should probably hold off another week or two .

Doing it this weekend. I even want to put on new front brakes and discs and I am still going ahead with removing the steelies. My handling in this 70+ degree weather has been sluggish at best with all that extra rubber and warmth. This winter was a waste for these tires, but last year they saved my (removed). No regrets.

I technically did it when I moved to Brian's former rims. I set the fronts to 45psi, and rears to 41psi. When I got them they were 15psi!

Oh, and I also let out a few PSI before storing. I don't measure, per se. But a good 10 second release on each valve is my method. I keep my tires at the 32-34 PSI mark, so if I store them under 30, I'm happy.
