A very interesting Read. It's curious that NASA got involved with this. It is also interesting the amount of problems "tin whiskers" create and how the use of tin in electronics is banned for high technology use, such as Satellites. The risk of problems is calculated to be only 140 out of one million. How many millions of cars has Toyota produced since drive by wire became the norm??? Yep.. millions and millions and millions.... Maybe you or I will win the "Tin Whisker" lottery? the odds are high, much higher than winning any Powerball big money lottery!!It's worth the time to read the article......unless you are a worry wart, in that case..... ignorance is bliss!! Go back to sleep.Dave

..."tin whiskers" has been a NASA/defense problem for years, especially in spaceborne hardware (satellites, etc.) where you can't easily "take-a-look" to see what's happening. Military defense has same problem with long-life/storage hardware (missiles in submarines and silos, etc.).

Interesting but am I supposed to believe that Toyota is the only maker that uses tin in their drive by wire accelerator parts?I doubt that.
