Nice to see that there could be possibly a future retro-kit for our Vibes in the distant future I wonder what that "former 1.8L base model" weighs now

Something about that metal shift knob would scare me in an electric car.Yeah, it has to weigh quite a bit more now. Wonder what the rear hatch area looks like - all filled up with batteries now?

I'll bet that set them back several $$$$ when undergoing this project Most of these guys either own machine shops, engine shops, electrical shops, etc. where the labor is usually not a factor in taking on these monumental tasks. Either way a VERY nice job! One thing I would have removed is the transmission completely. When going all electric you generally would not need a transmission at all. Simply vary the motor speed from an idle to full 1750 rpm

That was my thought as well. I kept thinking why he didn't just leave it in like 3rd or get rid of the trans, unless he wanted the power the electric motor produces at near idle. OR, unless he didn't want to have to reverse the motor via a controller. Of course, the prospect of 5 or 6 reverse gears is something to consider as well. LOL

I like that he kept the tranny in there. it means you can still row your own gears and have some fun while in your electric car. Next thing he needs is the system in the BMW M5 F10 which plays the engine noise through the speakers on the interior, and he's set!

[QUOTE=KITT222]Ooh, I like that! Someone on Youtube converted their Matrix to electric too.Great video .... At least he has nerve to really drive the car on the highway. I can't believed he had the time, money, and knowhow do build it. In his own small home garage no less.EV Innovation, Inc. is the builder of one I saw at the Auto Show. I just did a quick search of EV. However I have no time to look deeper.
