went to the junkyard today to hopefully get the front end parts for my vibe, unfortunately it was wrecked in the front also, but the sales person on the phone told me it wasnt..... it did have the headlight i needed and the fender rail piece that the bumper slides into, that being said, it also had a factory/dealer mat on the bottom of the cargo area thats carpet and says VIBE on it custom fit for the rear cargo area, im assuming this was a dealer installed option, however it also had some cloth bag things that were on the back of the back seats that had the hand screw things that attached them to the cargo rails on the back seat, one has a + on it like its supposed to have a medical box in it, and the other is two bag things that can be used to store whatever, Are these odd items, or am i just too new to vibes to know that it came with all of them?matthew

Those were all GM accessories that were available on the first gens. Dealer installed options mainly... You could get things like the carpeted cargo mat, storage / first aid kit on the back of the rear seats, a plastic cargo tray that went between the wheel wells, even a backpack to go on behind one of the front seats.

Great find on the mat! I've been hoping to find one myself and save $40-50 or so. They were dealer options, and you can still get them new if you look around on the internet.https://www.1stpontiacparts.co...2_100

cool, i paid $50 for the headlight and bumper side rail (fender rail) and $30 for the cargo storage pouches and cargo mat, the mat is dirty but not worn, it needs pressure washed.

You could always make your own cargo mat. I bought an 3x4 entry mat at Lowe's for $15. Just laid it in the back and cut it to fit.

I hate that crap - they want to get you down there and hope you'll buy something...anything. Back in college I needed a rear hub for my Triumph TR4. Called the local yard first and couldn't believe it when they said they had one. Went down and the guy says, "Yeah I think we got some Triumphs over hear" and proceeded to lead me to two Spitfires. I eventually found one (and this was pre-internet!) at a yard in Dothan, AL.
