Vibe Taxi in Saskatchewan!

I was heading home from a local golf course http://www.saskgolfer.com/lastoak/ a few weeks back and spotted a Lava 2-tone Vibe with a Taxi light on the top. Too bad we were in the Jetta & without a camera!!I was totally shocked to see a Vibe Taxi, especially on the road between a bunch of resort communities. I hypothesize it might be from one of the local reservations, but don't know for sure. Maybe someone else who has been out to Crooked Lake would know for sure?

That would be one cool Taxi! It is too bad you didn't have a camera. I would have loved to seen that.

quote:wow, that I gotta see! What taxi company was it ? That's the weird thing, there was no other identifying marks on the car. Just a white light with the word "TAXI" in black letters. No phone number on the side, nothing. It's almost as if someone was just goofing around. But who would choose a taxi light as their only accessory??

Ya maybe. But would you leave it on the car to go to the lake?? I found a pic of what is sorta looked like (the light, that is). That's why I think it might be from the reserve. Better than the residents thumbing a ride into town (which happens a lot), or calling the ambulance (aka the big white taxi) for a fake injury, which happens some too.

It's not too weird. Many taxi drivers are independent and own their own cars, but group together with one or more coordinating dispatchers. If you don't have a businesss name on your car, you can be working for several different dispatchers, each with their own identity and phone number. All you need for your "rider" is a big TAXI sign on your car so they'll know their taxi has arrived.INSIDE the car, however, there should be some form of license displayed, and of course a charge/mile * miles fare machine. Otherwise it's just some hack (unlicensed) trying to earn or con a few bucks out of people needing rides. And most people needing rides are elderly, who are generally easier to fool.KSNeptune

I read in a paper that a TV Repair Shop here in Mich bought 3 Vibes for their "Housecall or Service" cars instead of the typical van. James
