Changing muffler, what is the exhaust pipe size?

Hello,I just have a curious question. I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe AWD Base 1.8L. I am cutting the muffler off right at the beginning of the muffler and need to know what the exhaust pipe size is so I know what inlet size I need for my new aftermarket muffler. I think I read somewhere that it is 2" but I'm not 100% sure. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I'll measure my old one when I get home tonight (thinking it was only 1.5"). How many miles you have on it? You may want to consider a Cat-Back. It may give you a few extra ponies (which these cars sorely need...LOL)

Alright, let me know what yours measures out to be. I bought the car off my Pap who can't drive anymore. I bought it Feb. 2011 with 9,300 miles and now it has 15,800.. And yes you are right, it definitely needs a few extra horsepower! For now I think I am only going to change the muffler and see how that works. Thinking a glass pack so that will give me a little more power. Definitely need the size of the exhaust pipe so I know what inlet to buy.

Anyone else? I would like to do this project within the next few days. Anyone that has done this or know the inlet size of the exhaust pipe before the muffler, please let me know. 2004 Pontiac Vibe AWD 1.8L
