Sam's Club has these - decent price of $78. Anyone know who makes these? Or their reputation? The Everstart are sold at Walmart - rated pretty good on Consumer Reports. Logically you might think that the sames people who make Everstart also make the Duracell for Sam's Club.Advance Auto is $108 for their Autocraft but a 25% on-line discount code of BATX brings it down to $81. Anyone know who makes that one? Both Sam's Club and Advance Auto install free.

East Penn makes (or distributes) them... I've had a few Deka batteries made by them in the past and they served me well. But checking around, I found them mentioned another forum as distributed by East Penn and might be a Johnson Controls product. Who knows, but one thing is certain - there aren't too many who actually manufacture batteries these days.It appears Johnson Controls probably produces the ones for Advance as well.I will have to look at these now that we have a Sam's membership. I put in an AC Delco in the Vibe 6 years ago now, it's probably only a matter of time.

They are manufactured by East Penn, one of the largest battery manufacturers in the Nation. They make DEKA Batteries among others.IF they are made to standards that East Penn sets, they'll be absolutely wonderful batteries. HOWEVER sometimes house brands state certain compromises in favor of price or what have you. I've got a fleet of East Penn Batteries around and haven't had any issues with any of them to date......knock on wood.......

The last 5 batteries I've "bought" have been from Walmart, simply becasue they are reasonable, close, and my wife and kids could get them replaced easily if needed wherever they are at. I've had 3 or 4 in my Mustang, they usually only last about 3 yrs down here. I've only had to pay the pro rata price once, and that was like $12, because one battery decided to last for a couple of months past the 3 yr free replacement warranty. I figure if I get 3 years out of a battery, I got my moneys worth. It is even better if it fails in the 35th month and I get a new one to replace it!

I'm about done with WalMart batteries. The WM battery in my wife's minivan died today - a dead cell. Battery was bought in April 2010. It was a replacement for the prior WM battery that failed prematurely as well.

I do know the batteries that Advanced Auto Parts carries are manufactured by Johnson Controls, same as the Optima.

I did take a look at these today as my Hyundai's battery is taking a dump. Right now it's got an Interstate 26R that the dealer put in when the original died (the stock 121R in that thing is very expensive and is essentially unobtanium.) I discovered that a group 35, same as the Vibe, should fit in there fine. 600 CCA/85 reserve for this one at Sam's.I did confirm they say Manufactured By East Penn right on the label, so that's good news to me.I did have a (removed) moment about these. If you look at the pic, the - terminal is left front, + right front. Logo and everything else on the labels has the proper orientation when the battery sits that way. But as we know, the battery needs to sit facing the other way, positive on left rear and negative right rear. The 26R they had was the same way. Is confused. But flipping it around and installing the battery "backwards" would get the right posts at the right locations, no? When I google image search this group of battery, some show the terminals at the rear and labeling correctly oriented, others (like Optimas and such) have the posts backwards and up front like this one.Anyway, if it will line up when flipped around I think I'll be the guinea pig and see how it works out. If it's good, I'll get one for the Vibe too.
